California has a complex set of ethics laws to guide local officials in their service to their communities. Required ethics training will include laws related to personal financial gain by public servants; laws related to claiming perquisites (perks) of office; government transparency laws; and laws relating to fair processes. The training can consist of in-person training, an online course, or self-study materials.
